ROWEN Wine Co. is
Achieving Perfection
Our First Ever 100 Point Scores

We are honored to share that for the first time in Rodney Strong Wine Estates’ 65-year history, three of our wines have achieved perfect scores – 100 points each – from Meredith May of the SOMM Journal.

Hand-harvested from high-elevation vineyards, these meticulously crafted Bordeaux-style blends are a true testament to Sonoma County’s terroir. The names of these wines draw inspiration from the 600-liter French oak barrels used for the fermentation and aging process, imbuing each wine with remarkable depth and character. Our 600R is an homage to the Right Bank Bordeaux blends of Merlot and Cabernet Franc, while our 600L honors the Left Bank’s Cabernet Sauvignon blends.

Since its launch in 2019, we have highlighted the unique expression of 200 rugged acres on Cooley Ranch Vineyard, an iconic and remote property high in the mountains above Lake Sonoma in norther Sonoma County – a site Justin Seidenfeld, SVP of Winemaking and Winegrowing, refers to as the last great vineyard.

In old farming parlance, a “rowen” is a second harvest in one season, or “an unexpected windfall.” For Seidenfeld, it is fitting that a brand with the same name has enjoyed such monumental success.

Cooley Ranch Vineyard
Sonoma County, California

Cooley Ranch vineyard is blessed with bright red volcanic greenstone soil that is sought after for its high-quality grape growing potential and one of the reasons our winemakers carefully selected this land to plant on. Grown on a vineyard block named Prune Orchard, our Chardonnay sits at 1767 feet above the fog line on 2.2 ideal acres. Its northeast facing slope provides a cool environment loved by Chardonnay, leading to a wine with bright acidity and a natural balance of flavors.
